April Vacation Martial Arts & Crafts Week 2024

April 15th - April 19th 9:00am-3:00pm

Kids (Ages 6-12) learn valuable life lessons of communication, boundary setting/respecting, and non-verbal, verbal, & physical self-defense techniques.

  • We play cooperative games which foster positive social skills and self-esteem through equal involvement for all.

  • Kids get to express themselves through the Indonesian martial art of Pukulan which encourages free movements of four animals: the monkey, snake, crane and tiger.

  • We explore the worlds of the four animals to learn about being grounded, playful, coordinated, fast, balanced, fluid, intense and creative.

  • Kids have free play time to build friendships and relax into an unstructured flow.

  • We do art projects based on various themes. Some themes may include: each animal and its unique quality, community, positive affirmations, peace, mind-body-spirit, etc.

  • Kids get outside weather permitting.

  • We work together to build a respectful and caring learning/playing environment. We have buddies each day and help each other learn and become a part of the spirit of the heart community.

“Hard to say enough great things about Spirit of the Heart… it’s a place of structure and discipline, combined with warmth and flexibility. It is great for kids of all ages, abilities, and personalities, and your kid can start any time of the year. It’s been a pleasure to watch my son grow stronger in mind and body as he has progressed. I recommend it to everybody, especially to parents of kids who might be struggling in any way - it’s a place that builds children up!” - Lynn S

“This is a magical place of learning, dedication, and ease. Nancy (Majikan) and Morgan (Pembantu) are masterful teachers, and moreover, incredible stewards of self-awareness, strength, and self-control. We treasure Spirit of the Heart!” - Lexi Walters Wright

“These folks are the best! My kiddo recently did a week-long camp, as well as his sixth birthday party, at Spirit of the Heart, and I was so impressed with the organization, care, and attentiveness of Nancy and her team. My kids and his friends had so much fun at the bday party. I plan to return soon for some of the center’s family-oriented offerings, which I’m sure won’t disappoint.” - Kristen E.
